The Coloured Canyon brings the inland Sinai into your holiday: narrow rock passages, warm sandstone tones and a landscape best experienced on foot. It is a contrast to a resort day, with the journey, the walk and the desert setting all contributing to the experience.
Check which canyon you are booking
Excursions sold under similar names can follow different canyon routes in the Dahab and Nuweiba region. Ask the operator for the exact place, walking distance, type of terrain and vehicle. A combined “canyon and Blue Hole” ticket should not be assumed to visit every landscape shown in its gallery. Use the written itinerary to compare offers.
Prepare for a walk, not just photographs
Choose closed shoes with a secure grip and carry water in a small bag that leaves your hands free. Ask about narrow sections, uneven steps and places where assistance may be needed. If travelling with children or someone with limited mobility, discuss the actual route before paying. A short distance can still involve awkward terrain.
Build the rest of the day around the walk
A canyon visit can work with a lunch stop on the Dahab coast, but adding several motorised or water activities makes the schedule more demanding. Compare the return time and the amount of shade at stops. Follow the local guide’s route, leave rock formations untouched and take litter back with you.
