Choosing a beach for a family holiday

A beautiful reef photograph does not tell you whether a beach fits your children. Compare the part of the shore they will actually use, together with shade and the daily walk from your room.

Ask about the water entry

Check whether access is from sand, steps or a jetty and whether there is a separate area for easy bathing. Ask how changing sea conditions affect access. Do not assume a sandy beach means a sandy seabed throughout. Parents should assess the actual conditions on arrival and follow the property’s swimming instructions.

Compare the whole beach day

Look at toilets, lunch options, shade and the route back to the room. A manageable distance may matter more than another facility in the brochure. Compare Naama Bay, Hadaba, Shark’s Bay and Nabq at the hotel level: each contains properties with different layouts. Request recent information for the beach attached to the room you intend to book.
